Even though this market is smaller in scale to some other local farmers markets, there are a range of stall on offer selling a range of items such as fresh bread, coffee van, bee products and course fresh baked treats and jams from the Ballan CWA.

Look out for the two resident ducks, beautiful crimson rosellas and the occasional white ibis. There is also a very shy rakali (indigenous water rat) in this area. This rakali has been spotted around dusk with it’s distinctive white tipped tail.
There is also a rotunda in Caledonia Park with amazing views and perfect for a picnic. In spring time you might also notice jonquils rising from the banks of where the rotunda is located. These bulbs have been planted by the Ballan Arboretum group and they also conduct regular working bees to maintain and improve the green spaces around Ballan.
A Perfect Day Out in Ballan Stop by the Bostock Reservoir
While attending the Ballan Autumn Festival or Ballan Farmers market take some out to visit the picturesque Bostock Reservoir, pictured below. Purchase coffees and snacks to go from the many cafe’s in Ballan and head to Bostock, a five minute drive from Ballan. There are picnic benches where you can enjoy your coffee and take in the view. After your coffee take a walk around the reservoir and don’t forget your phone/camera to take some stunning instagrammable photos.
Bostock Reservoir is managed by Barwon Water in Geelong and along with bushwalking, this is a great location for mountain biking and bird watching. So bring your binoculars if ‘birding’ is your cup of tea.
